WALES SENIOR MEN'S TRIALS

Basketball Wales Senior Men's National Team would like to announce the following dates for National Senior Men's Team Trials. The trials will be split into 2 phases over 3 dates. There will be a trial in North Wales and South Wales for any player that has not played for Wales in the last 3 years. The successful candidates from the 2 phase 1 trials will then move onto the 2nd phases, which will be for present members of the Welsh Senior Men's Programme from the past 3 years. Please carefully read the below which will give you the contact information, times, dates and documents required.

These trials will also be for the Senior Team Futures Squad which is a new part of the BWENDC programme. The Senior Futures Squad will be a stepping stone for players from junior international basketball to senior international basketball. This will include the U20's and the Future Squad which will train along side the senior men's programme. This is an important step and an ongoing process of developing talent from U12's to senior teams through the ENDC program.

All players must be born before and including 1996. Players will be asked to provide a player profile to include the below, if they have not represented Wales in a FIBA Europe Tournament.

Players are to provide a photocopy of the photo page of their passport on attending either of the phase 1 trials. Players will also need to bring their own refreshments and suitable training uniform.

South Wales, 27th July 2013, 10.30am - 3.00pm, Rhondda Fach Sports Centre, Tylorstown.

North Wales, 24th August 2013 10am - 2.00pm Glyndwr University, Mold Road, Wrexham, LL11 2AW

All successful and unsuccessful candidates from Phase 1 trials will be contacted via email by 25th August 2013.

Phase 2

All players eligible to attend phase 2 trials will be invited directly and if any necessary documents required, they will be informed at that point

 Day1

31st August 2013, 10.30am - 2.30pm National Sports Centre, Sofia Gardens, Cardiff.

Day 2

1st September 2013, 10.30am - 3pm Rhondda Fach Sports Centre, Tylorstown

U20's and Futures Men's Phase 2 Trials.

1 Senior Men’s Squad of 18 players will be selected. 1 Futures Men’s Squad will be selected to include U20's Men.

All unsuccessful candidates from Phase 2 trials will be contacted via email before pm on the 20th September 2013.

Successful Candidates will be contacted via email before the 20th September 2013, within the email they will be given a full time table for training and warm up games up till the 2014 FIBA Europe tournament, also any documents that may be needed for eligibility.

Chance favours the prepared. Due to other teams being unable to play, Wrexham have been able to put a team into the Terry Price Cup, where North versus South. Games will be played at Glyndwr University on Saturday (11am and 5pm tip off) and Sunday (11am and 1pm tip off).

Well done to the Wrexham Raiders Senior Team and the Wrexham Cyclops Under 18 Team who won the NWBA Plate on Saturday 1st June. Hopefully bad weather will not ruin the tournament next year and allow it to be played on the scheduled date so that all players can participate.

The NWBA finals, that Raiders and Cyclops are playing in, have been confirmed as 1st June in Glyndwr.

Unfortunately due to severe snow in Wrexham the Plate and Cup games were cancelled. New dates will be confirmed as soon as possible.
